Apple

Despite the apprehension

To give you my whole heart,

Wholeheartedly I must mention

You’ve upset the apple cart.

You’ve shaken my stirred

And most rotten beliefs,

You shook this twisted tree

To where you fell, so sweetly, at my feet.

And gleamed at me - brightly;

Like Snow White’s forbidden fruit.

The cold core of me held tightly

And tugged from it‘s ripened root.

Futile and unfathomable

Was the famine within my chest.

I wore heartbreak for a year

Like a cold gold-plated crest.

And now I jest,

And ingest the fact,

That now I couldn’t ask for more.

Replenishing my heart,

Without the hunger I felt before.
