Known for her poetic lyricism, competent cross-picking and disarming presence on stage, Katie Nicholas is a grass-roots artist with a curious and ever-changing musical universe.

"A delightful discovery!" – Whispering Bob Harris, BBC Radio 2

Likened to a UK’s very own Kacey Musgraves, this Liverpool songbird arrived on the Americana & British Country Music scene with a bang over a decade ago before a long period of radio-silence. In 2025 she revisited her popular track “Chemistry” alongside an entourage of award-winning AMA instrumentalists for her Chemistry EP. A collection of songs celebrating her earliest music, all of which kickstarted her career and are still cherished by fans today. Here she reworks them as the producer she is today, almost 10 years on. Originally “Chemistry” was a DIY music video posted on valentines day in 2013 leading to viral success on YouTube, leading to festival and chart placements, along with a Youth Music Award sponsored by the Mayor of Liverpool. Katie vows that this is “the record my younger self would have dreamt of making” as she charges forward with her overdue catalogue of music, all in a bid to not leave the roots of her music behind.

In 2024 Katie released her prolific 50-song video-series “Songwriter Diaries” on YouTube. Here she uncovered the many evolutions of her sound amidst a tumultuous journey within the music industry with labels and managers. Despite an exciting start for the young artist - then living in London at age 18 with her full-time job in Advertising & Design - her music was later taken down under the guidance of a mentor in a bid for “development”. Told she had the “looks but not the songs” Katie disappeared for many years and later returned with her self-made series The Songwriter Diaries - in a bid to take back full control of her catalogue, voice and image.

Alongside the release of the Chemistry EP in 2025, Katie also launched her independent record label, “Ladybird Records” - little but bold. The name taken from her first earliest song included on the EP.

In 2026 she aims to continue releasing the archives of her music and story, with her next release being an album that took numerous attempts to come to full fruition. Learning to become a female producer and mix engineer, finally after 10 years “Space + Time” album will be set free on the 20th February 2026.

Over the last few years Katie has gone on to sell out her independent shows supported by a wonderful and loyal community of fans. On 30th April 2026 she returns to the Liverpool Philharmonic Music Room for her second headline show, playing a fresh new set as she introduces her next evolution of music. Despite a year off due to health setbacks, she is excited to pick up where she left off.
