About the event

On Saturday March 9th we are hosting an International Women's Day Celebration, specially curated by Lady Nade and featuring Katey Brooks, Holly Carter and Katie Nicholas. Lady Nade, Katey, Holly and Katie will be performing in-the-round singing songs and telling stories honouring #women and #womanhood. Lady Nade is a multi-award winning singer-songwriter whose songs carry messages of love, loss, hope, relationships, friendships and the positive connection between music, well-being, mental health and community. “Lady Nade is gorgeous, unselfconsciously, unashamedly positive, inclusive and open-hearted.” (Andrew Frowlish, Americana UK) Katey Brooks is a rebellious artist that resists formula, with a sound blending folk, soul, blues and Americana. She honed her skills touring the world, guitar on her back, writing everywhere from the Occupied West Bank to an abandoned Finnish island. Brooks’ vocals have featured on records with Brian May (Queen), Bill Wyman (The Rolling Stones) and Nick Mason (Pink Floyd). Holly Carter is well known at the Sound Lounge for her performances alongside Hannah White and Michele Stodart, Holly has established a reputation as one of the leading fingerstyle guitarists and one of the UK's only professional pedal steel players. Holly is also a gifted songwriter and solo performer. Her songs weave joyously catchy melodies with lyrics that pay homage to a diverse collection of musical and personal heroes including Gillian Welch, Paul Simon and The Manic Street Preachers. Katie Nicholas is a distinctive folk artist, skilful guitarist and fearless in bending any genre to suit her message. Her sound is reminiscent of timeless artists like Eva Cassidy, Joni Mitchell, Kate Rusby and Katie Melua. Katie was showcased by Whispering Bob Harris on his 'Under The Apple Tree' event in Nashville and last year sold out her first headline show at the Liverpool Philharmonic Music Room. 7pm
